This is very interesting. I think the reason UBI doesn’t come out of the equation you are looking at is because automation isn’t the problem that it’s the answer to. The problem that UBI solves is exclusion, and a fortiori creative and entrepreneurial exclusion, and it is the inclusion in these communities that UBI allows for that will lead to the innovative participation that you are calling for. Without UBI, there will always be a scarcity mindset, from social stigmatisation, and from the need for people to justify to themselves as well as others their access to welfare.
The way I think of it, UBI is not the answer, but a combination of UBI and open access, as you suggest, are the preconditions for a society that can be truly enriching for all.
